Splint therapy
There are many different spints (made of soft or hard material, lower or upper jaw splints, anterior splints, splints specially made for the patient or a prefabricated splint...).
The aim of splint therapy is to protect the teeth and relieve the chewing organ. The costs for the production of a splint are usually not covered by health insurance companies since 2011.
In principle, however, splint therapy is not suitable for every temporomandibular joint disease and in some cases can also lead to a worsening of the symptoms.
