Tumors and metastasis
Malignant tumors in the temporomandibular joint are very rare. Metastases / offshoots of another malignant tumor can also form in the temporomandibular joint. The most common is the origin stumps (primary tumor localization) in breast cancer, followed by lung and prostate cancer. However, these metastases are very rare, but it is very important to recognize and treat them at an early stage.
